I’ve changed the security setup and everyone should now be able to add ‘media’ i.e. pictures to their posts.
Having started to create a post, there is an ‘Add media’ button just above the post title. Use this to upload a file and with the required image selected, click ‘insert into post’ at the bottom of the page to make the picture visible.

Obviously, don’t make the picture too large, it’ll take forever to load when people are looking at your post.
